About Tom Goldstein

Tom Goldstein

I've spent twenty-five years working at the intersection of commercial pressure and human behaviour — first inside organisations, now alongside them.

I'm an organisational consultant, coach, and facilitator. I work with senior leaders and their teams on the human side of performance and change — the part that sits underneath strategy, structure, and process, and usually determines whether any of it actually works.

The commercial chapter

For fifteen years I worked in the technology and telecoms industry. I started in engineering, moved into technical sales, and spent most of that time leading international teams and working closely with customers on complex, high-stakes problems. I was part of startups moving through acquisition into larger organisations — and I experienced first-hand what happens when strategic intent meets organisational reality at scale.

What I saw, repeatedly, was that the most important problems weren't technical. They were human. The gap between what leadership decided and what teams actually did. The friction that couldn't be solved with a new process or a better slide deck. The moments where capable people got stuck — not because they lacked skill, but because something in the system around them made it almost impossible to operate differently.

The turn

Over time, I was drawn toward the human dimension of organisational life. I trained in coaching and psychology — not as a departure from the commercial world, but as a way of going deeper into the part that had always interested me most.

What makes people change? What stops them? What kind of conditions allow a team to think clearly, decide well, and actually follow through?

The current work

Today I work with organisations, leadership teams, and senior individuals — typically in businesses of 100–500 people — on the human side of performance and change. That includes diagnostic work with senior teams, coaching for leaders navigating complex transitions, support for middle managers caught between strategic pressure and team reality, and immersive offsite experiences in the mountains for teams that need a different quality of thinking.

Chamonix and the mountains

I live and work from Chamonix, in the French Alps. The mountains are not incidental to this work — they're part of how I think about clarity, perspective, and the kind of conditions that allow people to see things differently. Some of my most important work with leadership teams takes place in mountain environments, designed to create the space and conditions for a different kind of conversation.
